Ten other people, including three children, were injured.

A fiery and deadly accident Saturday afternoon was caused by a 13-year-old California boy, who was riding in a car he had stolen from a family member, speeding away from police who were trying to stop traffic.

A woman was killed in the accident, which was caused when the teenager lost control and struck two other vehicles in Woodland, and ten other people – three of them children, including the 13-year-old suspect – were taken to hospitals for treatment, reports said KOVR .

The Woodland Police Department said the California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.

Woodland Police said officers were driving the suspect vehicle erratically within a 25-mile zone. The driver refused to stop when officers tried to stop the vehicle, KOVR said. Officers chased him until the driver lost control and fell. Two of the three vehicles involved caught fire.

The suspect was one of the injured minors and remains hospitalized. He was the only person in his vehicle.

The Sacramento Bee said he was charged with involuntary manslaughter with vehicles and dodged an officer causing injury.
