COOK COUNTY, Ill. (WLS) – One person was injured in a violent accident Saturday morning on the Tri-State Tollway near O’Hare Airport, Illinois State Police said.
Police officers responded to a reported accident involving a car on southbound Interstate 294 at River Road just before 11:15 a.m., police said.
For an unknown reason, the vehicle traveling in the left lane swerved onto the left shoulder, crashed into the middle wall and caught fire, police said.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was able to get out and was taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
During the incident, the left lanes were temporarily closed.
Police said four vehicles collided in the northbound lane while rescue workers were on the scene.
No one was injured in the second accident.
It was not immediately clear if charges were filed in any of the accidents.
