41-year-old killed in accident: children still in mortal danger

Lingen (dpa/lni). A 41-year-old driver was fatally injured in a traffic accident near Lingen on Wednesday morning. Two children in the car, a 12-year-old girl and a 9-year-old boy, were critically injured. According to a police spokeswoman, they were taken to nearby hospitals by rescue helicopter.

The woman left the road around 7:30 a.m. on a right-hand bend for reasons that are not yet known. The small car landed on the roof. Everyone in the car was trapped and had to be freed from the wreckage by the fire department. The driver succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the accident. The road was closed to traffic for several hours after the accident.
