While she may not be a face many people are familiar with, Irene Bedard’s voice will be instantly recognizable for an entire generation. That’s because she provided the voice of the main character in Disney’s 1995 film Pocahontas and its direct-to-video sequel. Bedard, who is of Iñupiat descent, is known for portraying Native American characters in a variety of television and film roles, including parts in the films Smoke Signals and The New World. In recent years, she has reprized the role of Pocahontas on “Ralph Breaks the Internet” and has appeared on television series such as “The Stand”, “Westworld” and “FBI: Most Wanted”.
According to TMZ, the actor was arrested after a social check in August when police realized she was in a distressed state. When officers attempted to arrest her, she resisted, forcing them to pick her up and carry the actor to their waiting car. She was eventually taken to the Greene County Jail and charged with disorderly conduct, released from custody two days later. This arrest was followed by several similar events in 2020 when police officers arrested her for crimes related to domestic violence, disorderly conduct and criminal damage.
