The voice actor devoted more than two decades to the task of singing his lines on the network’s morning program and wasted no time getting back in front of the camera. With his signature charisma and expertise, he reprized his role, covering national temperatures as usual.
The 68-year-old’s “Today” co-hosts Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb gave him a warm welcome to the studio in a video shared on their Twitter page.
The clip accompanied by a note that reads“Al’s back with us this morning! 😁☀️,” Guthrie saw jokingly joking about his “brand new knee.” She couldn’t help but ask if it still had that “new knee smell.”

Roker donned a smart tan suit and replied with a playful smile, “I don’t want to go there.” Assuring everyone his new knee has served him well, he said: “We’re using it. It’s all good, all good.”
Kotb chimed in, expressing her delight at the return of the “Another World” guest star, saying, “We’re so happy to have you back with us, Al.” While co-hosting the Third Hour segment, he opened up about his recent surgery. explain:
“This was a much more involved operation as there was a knee removed and a knee put in and a few other things. But still things are going well.”
In addition to returning on Tuesday, the “Seinfeld” actor previously surprised his “Today” castmates following his knee surgery. To show his strong bond with his work family, Roker took to Instagram to share a happy video showing them all together.
The clip is based on Sister Sledge’s We Are Family (1995 Remaster) and shows the father of three happily posing with his teammates on different sets during a photo shoot.

Months after his triumphant return to today show The Blast reported that the beloved host’s dedicated wife shared her perspective on the challenging journey they have both been through.
During his absence, she supported and nursed him and kept everyone informed of his health.
During the red carpet premiere of the documentary “Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields,” the ABC News correspondent lightheartedly joked that her husband was driving her insane now that he was back at work.
She also emphasized the “stressful, exhausting and scary” nature of the nursing profession. As she reflected on her role, the 62-year-old expressed hope she would never face such challenges again. Roberts explained to ET:
“But it’s tough. It’s tough. I think I’m still recovering. I’m still kind of tired. I’m still mentally exhausted, but you know what? I’m grateful and I’m just trying to enjoy the moment and just be glad he’s okay and we’re all okay.”
The journalist credited her unwavering belief in God as a driving force throughout the challenging journey. The TV personality stressed the importance of spirituality and expressed her gratitude for the support she has received from her family, friends and work colleagues. Her presence reminded her that she was not alone in her difficulties.
