Amid a tussle with Ashok Gehlot, Sachin Pilot is able to address two events on Monday

Jaipur:

Days after targeting the Ashok Gehlot government for “inaction” on allegations of corruption when the BJP ruled Rajasthan, former Deputy Prime Minister Sachin Pilot is expected to address two public events in the state on Monday.

On Tuesday, Mr Pilot fasted for a day in Jaipur and called on the Gehlot government to crack down on allegations of corruption when the BJP ruled the state under Vasundhara Raje.

Despite warnings from central Congressional leadership that the move would be considered “anti-partisan,” Mr. Pilot continued his fast from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

On Monday, Mr Pilot will attend a local program at Parmanand Dham in Jaipur’s Shahpura at 11am and go to Khetri in Jhunjhunu at 1pm to unveil the statue of martyr Shyoram, his office said.

Army soldier Shyoram was killed in a shootout with terrorists in Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir in 2019.

After his one-day fast, Mr Pilot said he had addressed the problem of corruption under BJP rule and promised the people of Rajasthan that action would be taken against those responsible once Congress comes to power. But four years after Congress came to power, action has yet to be taken.

Meanwhile, opposition leader in the Rajasthan Assembly and BJP MLA Rajendra Rathore on Friday asked why Pilot didn’t raise the issues in the House of Representatives or in the early days of government if he had evidence.

Mr Rathore said Mr Pilot’s plane is on “autopilot” mode and only time will tell whether it will land or crash.

“The target of Sachin Pilot is Prime Minister Ashok Gehlot, who has called him ‘Nakara’ and ‘Nikamma,'” he told reporters in Bharatpur.
