The event, called Fanfarraiá, takes place this Sunday (23) and joins the feast of São João with street Carnival with completely free admission
Fanfarra da Ponte, a project that unites musicians and students of wind and percussion, announced Fanfarraiá 2023, a festival that unites São João and Carnaval on the street, with blocks and bands that play forró, marchinhas, xote, xaxado and baião.
According to the group’s official page on Instagram, participation in the event is free, but the organizers accept spontaneous contributions to finance activities of the Núcleo de Estudos da Fanfarra da Ponte, which trains new musicians, and donations of warm clothes, blankets, hygiene products and non-perishable food for the Street Population Movement in Santa Catarina.
Part of the income raised will also be used to organize presentations in underprivileged areas of the city. The event is open to the public, and is scheduled for this Sunday (23), at Praça Tancredo Neves, Florianópolis, starting at 1 pm, but it can be postponed in case of rain.
The event will also feature food and drinks typical of the São João festivities.
