On the day of the Premier League title party, Manchester City beat Chelsea 1-0 in front of their fans, for the English Premier League. With a mixed team, the Sky Blues opened the scoring with Julián Álvarez, while the visitors tried to close the disadvantage, but bumped into goalkeeper Ortega and the crossbar.
Coach Pep Guardiola opted to enter with a team made up basically of players who were substitutes for much of the season. The Catalan coach measures minutes with a view to the season’s straight, but mainly the Champions League final, which takes place on June 10.
IF YOU DON’T HAVE HAALAND…
In the first half, Manchester City started the match by putting pressure on Chelsea and opened the scoring after an error in the Blues’ ball output in which Cole Palmeiras served Julián Álvarez and the center forward crossed to open the scoring in the 11th minute. In the final stretch, Frank Lampard’s team had the best opportunities with Sterling receiving a deep pass, entering the area and finishing for Ortega’s great defense, while Gallagher received a cross in the next attack and headed it into the crossbar.
WITHOUT TOO MUCH PRESSURE
In the second stage, Chelsea looked more for the goal, while Manchester City tried to manage the result, but Frank Lampard’s team lacked the competence to create good goal situations. On the way back from the break, Lewis Hall made a good move on the edge of the area, but knocked for a quiet defense by Ortega. Manchester City nearly doubled their lead as Kalvin Phillips pounced on a cross from a free-kick, but the midfielder’s header bounced off the crossbar.
