Avs quiet about Nichushkin’s absence after police report

SEATTLE (AP) — The Colorado Avalanche is not commenting on the status of forward Valeri Nichushkin, who has been off the team for several days.

The team also will not comment on a police report of an incident at the team’s Seattle hotel last weekend. Colorado coach Jared Bednar reiterates that Nichushkin is not on the team for personal reasons.

Nichushkin has not played since April 20.

Police were called to the Four Seasons Hotel on Saturday afternoon, the day of Game 3. When officers arrived, a 28-year-old woman was in an ambulance.

The avalanche team’s doctor, Dr. Bradley Changstrom, told officers that team members found the heavily intoxicated woman while checking on Nichushkin.
