Known for the luxury sound devices it develops, including rivals for the AirPods Pro and even premium headphones for companies, Bang & Olufsen (B&O) presented this Thursday (27) the Beosound A5, the company’s newest portable speaker danish. In addition to the very powerful audio and features such as an integrated wireless charger, the device draws attention to its modular design, designed to extend the useful life of the accessory.

Specifically as a speaker, the Beosound A5 has very advanced specifications: there are 4 speakers in total, with a power of 280 W (70 W each) and a wide frequency response from 32 Hz to 23 kHz. The composition is made up of a 5.25-inch woofer for bass sounds, two 2-inch drivers to handle the full frequency range and a 0.8-inch tweeter for highs.

The launch works via Bluetooth 5.2 or Wi-Fi 6 and has Apple AirPlay 2 and Chromecast integrated, can be paired with a second unit, has a dedicated app for managing settings, features audio steering technology for spatial sound (although it does not use Dolby Atmos) and is compatible with all available streaming services including Apple Music, Spotify, TIDAL and Deezer. Having said all that, it is in the construction and in the look that the device stands out the most.

The Beosound A5 was developed in partnership with the design agency GamFratesi, and would be inspired by Bang & Olufsen portable radios launched between the 1960s and 1970s, including classics such as the Beolit 607 and the Beolit 1000. versions: Nordic Weave, with aluminum structure, oak wood handle and interwoven paper fiber protection cover; and Dark Oak, with aluminum darkened by anthracite coating, accompanied by an oak handle and cover.

The biggest asset of the box is its modularity, theoretically implemented to facilitate any repairs and extend the useful life of the device. All parts can be removed without difficulty and are IP65 certified for water and dust resistance, with B&O committed to releasing new options with different materials for many years to come. The A5 is also integrated with the B&O Mozart software platform, which would allow the manufacturer to keep the device updated for a longer period.

The super premium package is completed by the presence of Ultrawide Band (UWB), responsible for fast connection by proximity to other devices that also have UWB, as well as an integrated wireless charger with Qi standard to recharge smartphones and other compatible accessories.

price and availability

The Bang & Olufsen Beosound A5 is now available abroad, with a suggested retail price of US$1,049 (~R$5,235) for the Nordic Weave version, and US$1,149 (~R$5,735) for the Dark Oak variant. There is no information about a possible launch in Brazil.
