Knights, jugglers and Vikings reign for three days at the Rantzau Lake in Barmstedt. What’s on the program at the medieval market.

Barmstedt. For three days it’s all about the Barmstedt Castle Island. The Medieval spectacle Against a historical backdrop, the next round will take place on the last weekend in April – and offers a journey through time for the whole family.

At the 13th historical and medieval market in Barmstedt This year, visitors can even immerse themselves in life hundreds of years ago for a day longer and roam the castle island among jugglers, knights and jesters.

Sword fighting school offers exhibition fights – and trial training

The Pinneberg sword fighting school entertains visitors with its show fights and also offers trial training for all those who have always wanted to swing a sword. There is music from the medieval band Heidenlaerm and the a cappella band Drunken Shipmates, who perform shanties and pirate songs. The belly dancers of Aayla Sinoush and Mahbanu are back. A special highlight are the rides in what the organizers call “Europe’s largest historic stagecoach”, pulled by three cold-blooded horses.


The medieval spectacle on the Barmstedt Castle Island on Lake Rantzau will take place this year on Saturday, April 29, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday, April 30, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Monday, May 1, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission costs four euros per person, family tickets are available for eight euros.
