Bas: The Bundestag must become more family-friendly

“More opportunities for breastfeeding and diaper changing”: According to the President of the Bundestag, the Bundestag is not family-friendly enough. According to Bas, members of parliament should also be able to fill out their mandate well with children.
Berlin. Bundestag President Bärbel Bas calls for more compatibility of family and work for MPs.
“You have to be able to take your child with you if you don’t have childcare. At the edge of the plenary hall, more opportunities are needed to be able to swaddle and breastfeed children,” said the SPD politician to the editorial network Germany. “You have to be able to fill a mandate well, even if you have a child. This includes meetings not always lasting late into the night.” The Bundestag is already well positioned, but could become more child-friendly.
A service agreement for the right to work from home is currently being worked on. “Of course there are areas for which working from home is out of the question. You have to be careful that there are no injustices,” said Bas.
