The maximum speed of the Bhopal-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express reached 161 km/h during its start run on Saturday, exceeding the expected speed limit of 160 km/h, officials said.
The train, which cuts the travel time between Bhopal and New Delhi by an hour, reached a speed of 161 km/h between Raja ki Mandi in Agra and Mathura, they added.
A small section of track between Agra Cantonment and Nizamuddin stations has been designed to comply with the speed limit.
Earlier, the Ministry of Railways said in an order that the Vande Bharat Express Rani Kamalapati-New Delhi train can run at a maximum speed of 160 km/h via the Agra Cantonment-Tuglakabad section.

The semi-high-speed train was removed from Bhopal’s Rani Kamalapati railway station in the afternoon in the presence of Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel and Prime Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
