BOSSIP spoke to Sam Clemmett (Brimsley) and Freddie Dennis (Reynolds) about the Netflix hit series and the challenges they encountered in the roles of the Queen’s man and the man who, in some ways, are the people they are on the show stand closest.

“One of the hardest things about the role of Reynolds and Brimsley is the idea that as a butler, no matter how much you love or care for the person, you really can’t really show what you think about something.” you care about,” Freddie Dennis told BOSSIP. “As an actor, it was really fascinating and at times challenging to ask yourself, ‘How human can I be in this moment?’ In my response to what is going on.”

fans of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story It is thanks to Brimsley and Reynolds that they kept lines of communication open between Charlotte and George when their circumstances threatened to drive them apart.

“There was a constant conversation on set with Tom Verica, our director, and he was like, ‘How often can I have an opinion on something in our conversations and relationships with the king and queen?'” agreed Samuel Clemmett . “When I speak for Brimsley, there are moments when we’re really trying to push that through without specifically telling her or giving her any advice.”

“You know that a lot of what we do on this show is unspoken,” Clemmett added. “It’s what’s not said, and it’s told at a glance. And then I think again about our relationship: the moment they’re kind of united and they don’t even have to look at each other or say anything to each other is when he physically supported her in episode five with his hand raised when she sways in the hallway and nothing is said. They don’t look at each other but she knows he’s there for her and that’s the foundation of their relationship.”

Brimsley and Reynolds’ relationship also added an incredible new dynamic to the whole thing Bridgerton In the series, the couple acts out the first same-sex intimate scenes between two main characters that we’ve seen on the show so far.

“I think that with a historical play it was really important that clear relationships be explored on screen, and for that to run parallel to all the other relationships and come alive so beautifully and joyfully on the show, I think it’s really, really.” important and it’s really empowering.” so we can tell that story,” Freddie Dennis told us.

“I think everyone should feel represented by what they see in film and television, and it’s just more than a privilege to be part of a world that celebrates inclusion and diversity in equal measure Queen Charlotte And Bridgerton”, Sam Clemmett told BOSSIP. “For the intimacy scenes we had brilliant intimacy coordinators Lucy Fennell and Lizzie Tolbert. They took care of us and created a really comfortable, respectful environment for us to do our thing.”

And they actually did! We still have so many questions about what happened to Reynolds and why we end up seeing Brimsley alone. Hopefully we’ll get more from Brimsley and Reynolds next season Bridgerton to!
