It’s really official now. Fixed 250,000 euros and an optional further 50,000 euros have found their way to Nienborg. Not with a big suitcase full of money, of course. But even the simple funding notification on paper created a relaxed mood at the Landesburg support association. And that although there is still a lot of work ahead of those responsible.
Of course, the handover took place on the Ringbur facility. In other words, the place that will be richer by a real attraction in the near future – if everything goes smoothly. In the premises of the State Music Academy (Old School), the President of the NRW Foundation, Eckhard Uhlenberg, presented the long-awaited decision to the Chairman of the Supporting Association, Markus Jasper.
“Great project”
The foundation decision in favor of the Nienborg project was unanimous, as Eckhard Uhlenberg said in his short speech. And he emphasised: “Here the historical should be combined with the new. It’s a really great project.” One that we’re very happy to support.
Background: The old castle tavern is to be demolished and a new building (New Gatehouse) is to be built. The upper floor of the new building is intended for activities of the local clubs. On the ground floor there will be mobile exhibitions, a kitchen and a large lecture room. A permanent multimedia exhibition is planned for the basement.

The special feature: This is integrated in the middle of the historical finds in the basement area. A headless skeleton was even found there recently. As much of the old as possible should be preserved and the history of the castle made tangible. 2.6 million euros are available for the structural implementation alone. The funding from the NRW Foundation closes the gap that existed until recently.
But: Fix is ”only” 250,000 euros. Another 50,000 from the NRW Foundation will flow into the project if the sponsoring association manages to raise this sum itself. “For us as the sponsoring association, the Burgfest (April 30th – ed.) will be the prelude to getting our share together,” said Markus Jasper in an interview with the editors after the funding decision was handed over.

The festival committee and the clubs involved have already decided that surpluses will be handed over to the Landesburg sponsoring association. Markus Jasper makes no secret of the fact that there is still a lot to come as a result. But he spreads optimism that it will succeed.
The planning and talks for further self-contribution are already underway. Possible scenarios would be crowdfunding or a sponsors’ evening. Nothing can be said yet, but a lot is conceivable. Especially since those responsible know that they also have the support of the community.
