Byron Messia is grateful to be alive after a car accident in Jamaica

Up-and-coming dancehall artist Byron Messia is enjoying his blessing after a crash on the north coast on Saturday morning involving himself and other friends.

Messia is currently recognized as one of Jamaica’s biggest artists thanks to his song “Talibans,” which topped the reggae charts on iTunes, Apple, and Billboard at number one. The song has also dominated radio plays for weeks and promises a flourishing career.

According to OnStage, the artist escaped potentially serious injuries when a BMW he was traveling in overturned on a street in St. Mary. The vehicle also rolled down a cliff, seriously injuring his friends. According to reports, two of his friends are in the hospital and receiving medical attention.

Fortunately, Messiah says he was not harmed, although he is quite upset by what happened.

“I must thank the Most High for impaling my life and that of my friends this morning and I pray for a speedy recovery for my friends who were injured in the accident,” the artist said.

He added, “Greatness comes with obstacles and I want my fans to know that I’m in good spirits and will continue on my musical journey.”

Videos of the car crash were shared on social media after the crash, showing the car was totaled. A photo showed the car overturned and lying on its roof before a tow truck pulled it out of the cliff.

Byron Messiah, wearing black jeans, also lay on the ground while firefighters tended to the wounded.

“Thanks for a next chance,” the artist wrote on Instagram Stories.

Messia, who was born in Jamaica but grew up in St. Kitts, is currently in Jamaica recording and producing music.

The artist rose to fame with his song “Talibans” and is slowly becoming better known. Artists such as Drake recognize his talent and offer offers from artists such as 21 Savage and Burna Boy to remix the track. The song is currently the biggest dancehall track on Spotify.

Meanwhile, Messia has promised that despite his injury he will perform at Taboo Mobay on Saturday night (10 June). He shared that he had a successful performance at Taboo Kingston on Friday, which saw fans flock to the venue to vote with the artist.
