A contractor was hired to perform necessary emergency repairs on a section of Colorado Highway 133 north of Paonia that was severely damaged by severe flooding.
The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) said it is working with contractor Ralph L. Wadsworth on the details and timelines to get the freeway safely operational as soon as possible.
Colorado Highway 133 severely damaged after flooding
The road is currently closed, so CDOT teams plan to make emergency repairs in the meantime. This also includes a temporary bridge to bridge a large broken road. Once this is done, Highway 133 can be reopened to motorists.
Permanent repairs will likely begin after this bridge is installed.

Due to this damage, which began with a small soil hole and lane closure over the weekend of April 29-30, a security closure along the road between Milestones 14 and 19 has been in place since May 2nd.
