De Bruyne saves Pep: Manchester City wins a draw at Real Madrid

Partly nickelly, partly high-class dueled Real Madrid and Manchester City in the first Champions League semi-final. After the 1-1 draw in the Spanish capital, Pep Guardiola can continue to dream of finally clinching the pot with his “Citizens”.

Just under half an hour was played when Real defender Antonio Rüdiger made good on his promise and “hit” his DFB national team colleague Ilkay Gündogan. The guests had previously dominated the game, but a little later Rüdiger and Co. celebrated: Vinicius Junior (36th) put the Spaniards in the lead with a dream goal from 22 meters.

At half-time, Guardiola had to fear that he would fail again at the “Royal” like last year – especially when Real came stormy from the break. But again a goal fell against the course of events. Kevin De Bruyne (67′) equalized with a powerful shot from the edge of the penalty area.

He got the ball from Gündogan, who not only had to take a lot from Rüdiger. It was his sweet revenge.
