Deontay Wilder arrested for drug and gun possession

Celebrities and civilians alike should be aware that while California condones the use of marijuana, the state does not play when it comes to gun ownership. According to a DailyMail report, Deontay Wilder did not receive the memo.

The boxing champ was arrested in Los Angeles earlier today after being pulled over by LAPD and allegedly smelling the loud pack coming out of his Rolls-Royce. A search of the vehicle uncovered a 9mm handgun, which Wilder was not licensed to conceal.

Wilder is said to have been absolutely cooperative during his arrest and faces felony charges and a possible $10,000 fine when he appears in court on May 23.

This arrest could thwart Wilder’s plans to fight Anthony Joshua. The two were due to have a leather toss in December, but there’s no telling how criminal charges could affect that date. The two camps were in heated negotiations to carry out the struggle.

For what it’s worth, we understand why Wilder would wear the Blicky. LA is a wild city and the idiots and jack boys seem to be very aware of where the rich and famous hang out, even without poorly timed live Instagram videos. Hopefully, this mistake won’t cost Wilder more than a few bucks and some lost time.
