After the serious accident on Pentecost Sunday (May 28) in Schwerte, the police announced further details on Tuesday (May 30). The police were unable to provide any information on the severity of the injuries at the weekend. It is now clear that there was some danger to life for the people involved in the accident.

A 62-year-old woman from Hagen was driving on Hagener Strasse in the direction of Westhofen on Sunday when she got into oncoming traffic with her car. She collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle with three occupants, all swords.

The 62-year-old who caused the accident from Hagen, a 63-year-old driver from Schwerte, his 83-year-old passenger and a 65-year-old woman from Schwerte were seriously injured in the accident, according to information from Tuesday. Accordingly, the number of seriously injured people increases to four. At the weekend, three seriously injured women were mentioned.

Investigations into the cause of the accident

According to the fire brigade in Schwerte, which was on duty on Sunday, two of the people were flown to Duisburg and Münster with rescue helicopters. The other two accident victims were taken to hospitals in Dortmund and Bochum by ambulance. According to the police, there was some danger to life. A total of three helicopters had landed on the adjacent field on Hagener Strasse.

According to the police, both vehicles were a total loss of around 40,000 euros. Hagener Strasse was closed for several hours while the accident was being recorded. The investigation into the cause of the accident is still ongoing.
