Duílio reveals conversation with the women’s team and highlights the democratic character of Corinthians in protests against Cuca

After Corinthians’ defeat against Goiás, president Duílio Monteiro Alves said he met and talked with the female squad on Saturday about hiring Cuca. The players and coach of Brabas, Arthur Elias, posted a message on social networks this Sunday (23) praising the “Respect the Mines” movement and indirectly criticizing Cuca’s arrival.

In a speech in the mixed zone of Serrinha, the Corinthian representative highlighted the democratic character of the club and accepted the opposite thought.

– Corinthians is a democratic club, it is the ‘Respect As Minas’ club. They have every right to take a stand. I was with them, we talked for more than an hour and a half yesterday, everything was talked about, explained and they have every right to state their position. I don’t know if you can understand it as a protest, but you can understand that this reinforces what Corinthians is, which is the ‘Respect As Minas’ club and we will continue to deal with it and do everything possible, so that we can help in the campaign of women – began the manager in an interview with the channels “Meu Timão” and “Central do Timão”.

Before hiring Cuca, Duílio consulted Timão’s legal department about the coach’s conviction for indecent assault with the use of violence against a 13-year-old girl during a Grêmio tour, the team in which the professional defended at the time, still as a player, in the 80’s.

Compliance concluded that hiring Cuca would be a high institutional risk for Corinthians, something that was assumed by the Corinthians management, which, in turn, understood the sporting need to rely on the coach.

– A lot of people say that “Respect for Mines” is marketing, but in my two and a half years of management there was never a campaign, but unconditional support for women’s football, we had the implantation of the women’s base and professionals working in all areas of the club – concluded Duílio on the subject.

During the 3-1 defeat against Goiás, some Corinthians fans carried banners asking for Cuca to leave.
