Duisburg: knife attack in the fitness center – the police catch the suspect – Panorama

After the attack in a gym in downtown Duisburg, a suspect was arrested on Sunday night. The access of the special task force took place around midnight in the man’s apartment, according to the police. The suspect is a 26-year-old man with Syrian citizenship. He has been wanted for days.

In the act last week, a 21-year-old was seriously injured. He is still in mortal danger. Three other customers at the gym also sustained injuries. One of them has since been able to leave the clinic, the other two are still being treated as inpatients, but their lives are not in danger.

Initially, the police had considered an amok attack, but in the course of the investigation it turned out that the 21-year-old was probably the target of the attack. The motive for the crime is still unclear.

As the Picturenewspaper writes, neighbors are said to have recognized the suspect in images from a surveillance camera released by the police on Friday. The man is due to appear in court on Monday.
