Elliot Page Reveals Secret Romance With Kate Mara

Actor Elliot Page (“The Umbrella Academy”) has revealed that he had a secret relationship with actress Kate Mara (“Fantastic Four”). The allegation was published in his memoir, “Pageboy”. The information is from People magazine, which had access to the book. At the time, Mara was dating actor Max Minghella (“The Handmaid’s Tale”).

According to Page, Minguella supported Kate exploring her feelings. “The first person I fell in love with after my heart was broken was Kate Mara. She had a boyfriend at the time, the lovely and talented Max Minghella,” she related. “I never thought I could be in love with two people and now I know I can,” she added.

She also revealed that the relationship happened shortly after coming out as gay, that is, before coming out as transsexual. “It was a moment of exploration and also heartbreak,” she vented. “I think my relationship – or whatever you want to call it – with Kate very much sums up a certain dynamic that I’ve always found myself in, which was falling in love with people who – I think a lot of us do that – aren’t fully available.” , she continued.

Although it wasn’t a bad experience, Elliot Page says he wouldn’t secretly date again. “At the end of the day, I think she loved me. We loved each other and it was very real in our bubble. It was fantastic. You know, it was really beautiful,” he reported. “I admired her and how she inspired me in so many ways. But feeling hidden was very painful. That was impossible and not a sustainable relationship. And it taught me that I wouldn’t do that again.”

Elliot came out as gay in 2014, still as Ellen Page. After an emotional speech at the “Time to THRIVE” conference in Las Vegas, in which he came out as LGBTQIAPN+, the artist received numerous messages of solidarity on Twitter, but the best of them was from his professional colleague Kate Mara, who publicly asked him to dating. “Ellen Page… be my girlfriend?” Mara wrote. The answer was quick: “Yes, please”. After that, they worked together on “Meus Dias de Compaixão” (2017), living as a couple.

In December 2020, the actress formerly known as Ellen Page announced that she is a trans man, changing her name to Elliot Page.

The memoir “Pageboy” arrives at Brazilian bookstores on Tuesday (6/6) in a launch by Intrínseca publishing house.
