Right-wing extremist posts in a chat group have been the trigger for searches of two suspects in Thuringia. In addition, there were searches in this connection on Wednesday in the districts of Rostock, Northwest Mecklenburg and Ludwigslust-Parchim in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, as announced by the public prosecutor’s offices in Rostock and Schwerin. A police spokesman for the Thuringian state operations center did not provide any information on the exact places of residence of the two main suspects in Thuringia on Thursday.

Investigations are being carried out on suspicion of incitement to hatred, the approval of criminal offenses and the use of symbols belonging to unconstitutional and terrorist organizations, as well as violations of the Weapons Act.

During the searches on Wednesday, electronic storage media, mobile phones, weapons, weapon-like objects and ammunition as well as narcotic-like substances were reportedly seized.

The Whatsapp group founded in March 2022 by a 33-year-old has been known to the investigating authorities since October 2022. A total of 73 users from 14 federal states were at least temporarily members. According to the LKA, pictures with swastikas and anti-Semitic and inflammatory statements were posted.

According to the authorities in the north-east, further proceedings against members of the chat group are being carried out by the responsible authorities in Bavaria, Saxony-Anhalt and Saxony.
