Film flops that left actors completely devastated

The 2008 comedy The Love Guru is one of those rare bombshells, one so catastrophic it practically single-handedly destroyed its lead actor’s career. Mike Myers starred in the film, co-wrote and co-produced, and he won Razzies for all three of those jobs (combined with his “The Cat in the Hat” performance, “The Love Guru” Myers also earned a ” Worst Actor of the Decade” Razzie nomination). Aside from voice acting in the fourth Shrek film, he hasn’t had a starring role in a film since, except for occasional appearances in television, documentaries, and small roles in films like Inglourious Basterds and Bohemian Rhapsody. ”

Despite the huge failure of The Love Guru and its devastating effect on his career, Myers defended the film in a 2014 GQ interview. “But there is a lot in this film [The Love Guru] comedic, which I’m really, really proud of,” he said, admitting, “I totally know it didn’t hit an audience.” He also tries not to get too personal about the movie bombshell, saying, “I just love doing stuff dude you know you can’t be too clingy and you can’t be too down.”
