A burning truck massively obstructed traffic on Autobahn 2 near Peine on Wednesday. Nobody was injured, as a spokeswoman for the Braunschweig motorway police said. The semi-trailer of the articulated lorry caught fire for reasons that were initially unclear, but the driver still managed to stay in the emergency lane and uncouple. The trailer burned down. During the extinguishing work, the motorway in the direction of Hanover was completely blocked, according to the police, a fast lane was then released. Traffic was backed up for about 14 kilometers in the meantime. The “Bild” newspaper had previously reported.
