Things just took another twist in the lawsuit filed against Lizzo by her former backup dancers.
Three of her former backup dancers, Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez, have made shocking allegations that the “Truth Hurts” singer forced them to participate in sexual acts at an adult entertainment show and weight-shamed them.
After Lizzo slammed their “sensationalized” claims on Thursday morning, fans aren’t sure who to believe, especially after one of the former backup dancers named in the lawsuit was singing Lizzo’s praises after the alleged incident occurred.
One Of The Women Suing Lizzo Said ‘I Look up To Her So Much’ AFTER The Alleged Amsterdam Incident
One of the women who is suing Lizzo, Arianna Davis, had nothing but positive things to say about the “Juice” singer after the alleged incident took place. In a video show in April 2023, Davis gushed over “queen” Lizzo, saying that she just wanted to “follow in her footsteps.”
“It’s been so amazing and such a beautiful journey. I look up to her so much,” Davis said in a video obtained by TMZ. “I just want to follow in her footsteps, and I just want to share that with the Queen Lizzo herself.”
Lizzo’s lawyer, Marty Singer, later told the outlet, “These do not sound like the worlds of someone who was harassed or discriminated against by someone they described as ‘THE QUEEN.” Singer went on to say, “They say that a picture is worth a thousand words and here a video shows that there are no legitimate claims in this lawsuit. We are confident that Lizzo will be completely vindicated in this matter.”
The outlet notes that Davis made the above comments after the European leg of Lizzo’s tour and after season 1 of “Watch Out for the Big Grrrls.” Davis made the comments in an interview for season two of the show, where the former backup dancer tried to pitch herself as a singer. However, this video was shot after the allegations of weight shaming.
Lizzo Is Being Sued For Sexual And Racial Harassment and Creating A Hostile Work Environment
As The Blast previously reported, Lizzo is not only being sued for sexual and racial harassment, btu she is also being sued for allegedly creating a hostile work environment as well. The lawsuit was filed earlier this week in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
The lawsuit has been brought against the pop star, whose real name is Melissa Jefferson, her production company, Big Grrrl Big Tour, Inc., and her dance team captain, Shirlene Quigley. The three dancers allege that they were pressured by the singer into touching unclothed performers at a club in Amsterdam.
In Amsterdam, Lizzo brought her dancers to a club called Bananenbar, where customers can interact with these performers. “Lizzo began inviting cast members to take turns touching the nude performers, catching dildos launched from the performers’ vaginas, and eating bananas protruding from the performers’ vaginas,” they alleged in the court documents.
Davis claims that Lizzo allegedly “began pressuring” Davis to touch the chest of one of the performers, even though she was “expressing her desire not to touch the performer.”
The lawsuit also accuses Quigley of shaming those who engaged in premarital sex while “oversharing her masturbatory habits and sex life with her husband.” Davis also went on to claim that she endured weight shaming from Lizzo.
“Lizzo and Ms. Scott questioned whether Ms. Davis was struggling with something as she seemed less committed to her role on the dance cast. Lizzo and Ms. Scott pressed Ms. Davis for an explanation why she seemed less bubbly and vivacious than she did prior to the tour starting. In professional dance, a dancer’s weight gain is often seen as that dancer getting lazy or worse off as a performer,” the lawsuit alleges.
It continued, “Lizzo’s and Ms. Scott’s questions about Ms. Davis’ commitment to the tour were thinly veiled concerns about Ms. Davis’ weight gain, which Lizzo had previously called attention to after noticing it at the South by Southwest music festival.”
Davis claimed that she felt that “she needed to explain her weight gain and disclose intimate personal details” to keep her job. Lizzo herself has recently spoken out against the “unbelievable” and “sensationalized” claims that she insists are “fabricated.”
