The Minister of the Environment and Climate Change, Marina Silva, said this Thursday that the ministry intends to launch in May the resumption of the Action Plan for the Prevention and Control of Deforestation in the Legal Amazon (PPCDam).
Abandoned during the administration of former president Jair Bolsonaro, the plan is undergoing restructuring under Marina’s command for the relaunch.
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva took on his third term in office under the promise of ensuring that sustainability serves as one of the bases for decision-making in government.
At an event organized by Bradesco BBI, Marina also said that she suggested to the Minister of Agriculture, Carlos Fávaro, that he transform the Safra Plan into a low-carbon agriculture program, with a timetable.
