Goalkeeper Oliver Baumann from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim talks about his chances of participating in the 2024 home European Championship. He would also like to reach a certain mark in the Bundesliga.

Zuzenhausen. Goalkeeper Oliver Baumann from the Bundesliga soccer club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim does not see himself without a chance in the race for the squad places of the German national team for the home European Championship next year.

“I think I could help the DFB. Because of my great experience, I know where I can get involved on and off the field, give advice if necessary and see where problems arise,” said the 33-year-old of the German Press Agency. “So if the DFB wants me to help, then I’ll help.” Baumann has been called up to the senior national team several times, but has not yet played an international match.

The training camp in Kitzbühel, where Baumann and TSG prepared for the new season, ended at the weekend. “I feel great. From today’s perspective, I would like to continue playing for another five years. Of course, the 500 Bundesliga games are a mark that appeals to me,” said the Hoffenheim captain about his personal goals. He currently has 427 Bundesliga appearances. “When I played my first games in my early 20s, I wouldn’t have thought it possible. I want to keep collecting games, keep getting better. Maybe one day it will work out with an international match.”
