How does Bill star George Rossi have £8million left in his will?

It’s a mystery how actor George Rossi, who played DC Duncan Lennox on hit TV series The Bill, left a fortune of £8million in his will.

Rossi, 60, died of pancreatic cancer on January 5, 2022 and probate figures showed he left an estate of £8,059,966.67 which was reduced to £3,660,996.36 after paying off his debts and bills.

He left his estate to his wife Catrin and named her one of his executors alongside daughter Matilda and son Santino – but how did he come to his massive fortune?

Born in Govan, Glasgow, Rossi worked in the family’s ice cream shop before attending East 15 Acting School, near London.

He made his debut in the 1984 film Comfort & Joy opposite his brother Peter, and had many television roles before landing a regular role in 1998’s The Bill as DC Duncan Lennox.

He spent four years in the role, becoming one of the show’s most popular cops, appearing in 190 episodes.

His character first appeared in an episode in 1993 before returning as a series regular in 1998. He left the drama in 2003.

Prior to his regular role on The Bill, he had appeared in Roughnecks, the Max Headroom film, The Singing Detective, and he starred in the 1983 comedy-drama film Local Hero opposite Peter Riegert, Denis Lawson and Fulton Mackay.

He also starred in Doctors, Casualty, Whitechapel and Holby City, as well as Hotel Babylon and Ultimate Force.

He also appeared in a number of other well-known television shows between 2009 and 2010, including Taggart and the first two series of Whitechapel, in which he portrayed another detective, DC McCormack.

In 2013, Rossi appeared as Gianpaolo Albertini in the BBC soap Doctors, and in 2011 he starred as Marco in Hustle.

His last appearance was in Le Cineaste – A Director’s Journey in 2020.

Rossi continued acting almost until his death, signing his will on November 25, 2021, just weeks before his untimely death.

During his career he has performed alongside big names such as Jean Reno, Chris O’Donnell and Sandra Bullock.

Earlier last year, his heartbroken widow announced that he died surrounded by his loving family after losing a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Catrin told MailOnline: “George was a wonderful person. He died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family after losing his battle with pancreatic cancer.

“He died at home, which is what he wanted. We will miss him terribly and we are all deeply saddened at the moment trying to come to terms with this great loss. The kids are just as devastated as I am.”

She sobbed: “It was expected but it hit us hard and we really don’t know what else to say.”
