The Wolfsburg Grizzlies are threatened with the end of the playoff semi-finals in the German Ice Hockey League. At the title favorite EHC Red Bull Munich, the Lower Saxony lost the fifth of seven possible games after extra time 2: 3 (1: 2, 0: 0, 1: 0, 0: 1) and are 2: 3 behind in the series . If Munich wins in Wolfsburg on Monday (3:15 p.m. / Magentasport), they will be in the DEL final. If the Grizzlies manage to equalize, there will be a decider on the Isar.

Coach Don Jackson’s hosts started furiously. Chris DeSousa needed 54 seconds to take the lead. Just over three minutes later, Austin Ortega made it 2-0 (5th minute). However, Wolfsburg was not affected by the early deficit: Laurin Braun scored the 1:2 lead just under a minute later.
Wolfsburg then missed the equalizer several times and failed either to Munich goalkeeper Mathias Niederberger or the crossbar. The guests were only rewarded in the final round: Outnumbered, Spencer Machacek shot the puck into the goal to make it 2-2 (50′). In the extra time, however, Patrick Hager caused the disillusionment of Wolfsburg (64th).
