Influencer boxer Chase DeMoor fears he will be banned from the sport after late punches

A reality TV star and young boxer fears he could be handed a year-long ban after being disqualified from a fight on Friday for continuing to punch his defenseless opponent after a knockdown. Shocking footage from the fight has since gone viral, showing a post-fight commotion between the two fighters’ respective corners.

Chase DeMoor, a star of Netflix’s Too Hot To Handle, dropped YouTuber and heavyweight Stevie Knight in the second round on Friday night in New Orleans. But instead of returning to a neutral corner, DeMoor is seen continuing to pound the unconscious knight in the disturbing clip.

He was ultimately disqualified, but not before his corner and Knight’s got into a brief physical altercation.

DeMoor, a 6-foot-5 former central Washington defenseman, tried to hug Knight after the fight, but the wobbling pugilist was quickly nudged in a different direction by one of his cornermen.

As DeMoor told the Mirror, the Louisiana State Boxing and Wrestling Commission is considering a one-year suspension for him.

‘[Promoter] Mams Taylor basically told me, “They’re pushing for a year’s suspension, they want a 12-month suspension,” but we’ll see how that goes,” said DeMoors, who is now 0-2 after his disqualification.

“Obviously there are a lot of factors involved in that, at first glance you see what you see but you also have to factor in the experience, the size of the ring, we’re big bodies fighting in a small ring, the pace he falls and then where the referee is,” he continued.

DeMoor blames the unnamed officer for the incident and says he should have been sent to a neutral corner.

“If you watch the clip, it counts while Stevie is still on the ropes,” DeMoor told The Mirror. “He’s not down yet and the referee is counting behind us. What people don’t understand is after there’s already been two knockdowns, I’m much taller than him, why isn’t he right between us and saying, “Get off him?”.

“I’m not saying it’s not my fault,” DeMoor continued. “I’m 100 percent to blame. But if you look at the punches, they weren’t hard punches, I wasn’t on the ground and I threw his head back, it was more of a celebratory punch I feel. The referee should have been there 100 percent and sent me to my neutral corner.

“I think his referee license should be checked because that’s ridiculous, a very big safety issue and I’m not saying what I did was right or wrong. But what I’m saying is that when I punched him and saw his eyes roll into the back of his head and his eyebrows raised, I’ll never forget that.

DeMoor wants to stay in the sport, regardless of whether it’s banned in Louisiana or beyond.

“Of course, if it’s a 12-month ban, that would be very unfortunate,” he said. “But you know me, I never go quiet. Look what I’ve done in five months. You give me 12 more months of boxing training, I could really fight Tyson Fury… For me the plan is I’m going to get down to 225lbs so if I have to fight at 190lbs I can, but if I have to fight heavyweight I can can.

“And I will continue boxing, if I get banned for 12 months I will box through the 12 months if that’s just training every day and posting sparring material, I’m not going to sit it out, 100 per cent no.”
