How TSV Gersthofen turned the game against last year’s runners-up with a huge increase in performance in the second half.
The relief after the final whistle from referee Luca Riedl was with TSV Gersthofen limitless. While still on the field, people celebrated as if they had just won the championship. The Landesliga relegated team won their opening game 2-1 against last year’s runners-up VfR Jettingen. Two “jokers” were responsible for the redeeming winning goal in the 85th minute.
“We have a large squad and we’ll need that too,” said coach Sebastian Hoffmann, pleased that two of the substitutes were responsible for the goal that meant the opening three. Metus Curkoli defended the ball and put the ball on for Admir Omerbegovic, who sunk the ball into the far post with a wonderful flick (88′).
