Jordan Henderson says it would be ‘amazing’ to play alongside England team-mate Jude Bellingham at Liverpool

Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson has insisted it would be “amazing” to play alongside Jude Bellingham at Anfield as he gushed over his England team-mate.

The Reds definitely want to poach the 19-year-old from Borussia Dortmund in the summer.

But the Merseyside side know they face competition from Premier League rivals Manchester City and La Liga giants Real Madrid.

And Henderson, with whom the teenager has a great friendship on international duty, has said the BVB star can play for any club in the world.

Although he has stressed he is hopeful the £125million-rated midfielder will join him at Liverpool.

Speaking of Bellingham’s potential, Henderson said: “Listen, I just want him to be the best player that he can be. If it ended up being Liverpool then of course that would be great.

“But it has to be the right thing for him and every club you can think of will want him.

“He has to think of himself and make sure he’s making the right decision for his career.

“But there’s going to be one club that gets it in the end, whether it’s now or in a year or two and it’s going to be a happy club.”

Henderson added, “His potential has gone through the roof. Honestly I can’t believe his age, how mature he is playing, how mature he is off the court, in the gym, in training, everything, recovery the day after the game.

“He just dedicated himself to football. He’s a very special player and I can’t believe his mentality, how he engages in training and games, everything.

“I’ve never seen that before, so I’m pretty confident he’ll be a pretty good player for many years to come.

“He’s a special player but I’ve said it before, we just have to be careful not to put too much pressure on him but let him play football.

“If you let him play football you can see what he’s doing for Dortmund, you can see what he’s doing here for England.

“Every time he puts on an England shirt, he grows and gets better and better.

“Obviously there are things he can improve and improve on – he’s only 19 – but the platform and base he has he can take as high as he wants.”

Bellingham teased Liverpool fans about a potential summer move after posting snaps of him with Henderson and club legend Steven Gerrard after England’s 2-0 win over Ukraine on Sunday.

Despite Liverpool being at risk of not securing Champions League football for next season, talkSPORT understands he remains open to joining them.
