Nickelodeon fans are most likely familiar with former child star Josh Peck, who rose to fame as Josh Nichols on the sitcom Drake & Josh. It’s never easy being a child star, and Peck says he’s lucky to have “survived the curse of being a child star.”
The 36-year-old actor has come a long way since his early days. Lute! Online, he is now a husband and father of two. Peck has racked up some acting credits since he was young, taking roles on shows like How I met your father, fuller houseAnd iCarly. It seems, however, that he hasn’t forgotten how he got his start. In an interview, the actor says he’s “aged” as a former Nickelodeon child star.
Peck’s career as a child star on Nickelodeon
Peck knew from a young age that he wanted to break into the world of acting, and while it required extreme focus and persistence, he let nothing stand in his way. The website The GW Hatchet reports that after several Nickelodeon auditions, Peck finally landed a role in the 2000 film snow daywhich resulted in it being thrown in The Amanda Show and finally, Drake & Josh.
According to People, the actor has no regrets for stepping into the spotlight from such a young age and gives his mother a lot of credit. Peck says, “My mom doesn’t play. Even now, if I say something remotely fresh, she’ll still bring it up to me.”
The star enjoyed what he was doing, saying, “I was just totally in love with coming to work every day.”
He saw many other child stars take a backseat over the years and expressed gratitude for being able to continue his career as he got older. Peck says, “It takes an incredible amount of work, focus and dedication. You have to get through the times when you’re not working. There’s a lot of rejection. I understood that early on. I never let that distract me from my main focus – my passion.”

It’s obvious that Peck has fondness for looking back to his early days. But he’s recently been candid about his feelings about being a former child star.
While speaking to teen star Hilary Duff, he opened up about how Nickelodeon had a “setup” of sorts. What exactly did Peck say? He told Duff, “Nickelodeon had a kind of setup where they said, ‘Once you’re 18 and the show is done, we’re probably done because you probably just aged from the demo.'”
Will there be a Drake & Josh reboot?
In fact, he raised the possibility that this could happen. Lute! Online, Peck doesn’t exactly approve of the idea, saying, “Not really, no. I never think about it like that.”
He just doesn’t think it will work or ever happen, even though it was in the works at one point. The actor even wrote a script for a reboot of the show. However, it never came to fruition.
Peck added that other reboots, such as fuller house, possibly works because they were “key characters from the original who were then able to make it their own in the reboot. So I think if you want to do it, I think that’s how you have to do it.”
