Katy Perry says spray tan was very expensive during the “teenage dream” era

Katy Perry got a very expensive spray tan while filming the video for “California Gurls”. teenage dream Epoch.

The 38-year-old pop titan reflected on some of her most iconic looks during a life in appearance segment with Fashion. First up was the 2010 video from her incredibly successful era.

However, katy‘s appearance story focused more on her tan than the outfit itself.

“The funny story behind this is that I look super tan here, right.” katy asked. “I rarely get spray tan, and normally you should get them the night before. Well I just didn’t have the time. So I got them on the day of my music video.”

That’s where the problem came in.

“If you tan on the morning of your music video, your color will gradually change throughout the day. So I just kept getting more orange and more orange and more orange,” she said.

The beauty smash cost her team a lot of money: “We had to spend so much extra money to color grade this music video because I have this color orange in one part of the video and then this color orange the next part of the music video.”
