Left-wing extremists devastate streets in Berlin and set cars on fire

Rioters demolished numerous cars and windows in Berlin-Mitte on Saturday night. According to the police, at least 20 people dressed in dark clothes moved from Seydelstrasse to Alten-Jakob-Strasse. A total of 18 vehicles were damaged, two of which were set on fire. According to eyewitnesses, there were even about 30 left-wing radicals.

It is known so far that the people threw red paint over a large area at a job center. In total, more than 20 windows were broken and more than 18 vehicles were damaged. The group is said to have thrown burning Bengalos into cars. The police have extinguished a fire in a charging electric rental car. At least one other vehicle was completely burned out, according to the fire department.

During the riots, the perpetrators are said to have repeatedly announced slogans such as “Fight inflation”, “Out on May 1st” and “Hunt bigwigs” and scrawled them on the walls. A local resident explained: “These are slogans from failed existences.”

In addition, people from the group threw a moving car from a security company and damaged the rear window. No one was injured, police said.

According to the police, two suspects aged 17 and 21 were temporarily arrested. State security is investigating particularly serious breaches of the peace.
