Samie Elishi has revealed she will have to wait two-three weeks to find out if she has cancer after undergoing her thyroid surgery.
The former Love Island star, 23, first detailed her cancer scare when she shared a tearful video in April as she told fans how she had found a lump on her neck.
Earlier this month, Samie was forced to postpone the procedure due to illness.
But on Wednesday, Samie confirmed that she finally had her operation and told how she was ‘very lucky’ as she shared a picture from her hospital bed.
Going into more detail on Instagram after her followers questioned why she was in hospital, Samie explained: ‘The surgery I had done was a Hemi Thyroidectomy basically the right side of my thyroid removed due to a lump on the side of my neck (that supporters from the show actually spotted)’

Samie added: ‘The lump will now be tested to see if it’s cancerous and I will get the results in 2-3 weeks.
‘This is becoming soo much more common especially in younger people so I strongly recommend checking your body for any abnormal lumps or bumps.

Taking to her Instagram Stories on Tuesday evening, Samie told how the procedure went well and ‘no drainage’ was needed, assuring fans she felt ‘absolutely fine’.
She said she would be sharing updates throughout her recovery and thanked fans for their support while urging people to always get any lumps checked.
Alongside a smiling snap of herself from hospital, she wrote: ‘Surgery complete guys! I feel absolutely fine, no drainage was needed or anything, I’m very lucky.
‘I’m now on rest duty but will be vlogging the recovery. Everyday I receive so many supportive messages from you guys, forever grateful.
‘Me raising awareness has lead to some of you having this surgery and getting lumps on your neck checked, getting these messages means so much.
‘If I can help one person, that’s enough.’
Of the picture of her, she jokingly added: ‘This is me in recovery a bit out of it.’
On Wednesday, Samie once again took to her Instagram Stories to share a smiling snap of herself in hospital and told how she was set to be discharged.

Setback: She previously said she had to postpone her surgery to have a lump removed from her neck due to tonsillitis, but she has now had the procedure and assured fans she is ‘fine’
‘I’m constantly clearing my throat but that’s normal as I’ve read so many of your lovely messages about your experiences.
‘A few messages of people saying they’re scared of having it done which I completely understand but I just want to say you have nothing to worry about!
‘The surgery is so straight forward and it’s so common now, it gets done all the time. My dms are open for any questions you have! (Not that I’m anywhere near an expert but any recovery questions.’
Her surgery comes after Samie told how she was recently rushed to hospital and was forced to postpone her operation due to illness.
The reality star explained on her YouTube channel that she fell ill after her recent cruise trip and had to go straight to hospital after returning from her holiday.
Detailing the hospital scare, she said: ‘I didn’t realise how bad tonsillitis could be but I was on an IV drip on the cruise to try and get food and water in me because I couldn’t eat or drink.
‘Then as soon as I landed I was meant to go to the Beyoncé concert with PrettyLittleThing which I’m absolutely gutted I couldn’t make but I had to land and go straight to the hospital.
She continued: ‘Me and my mum went straight to the hospital and got checked out because the antibiotics I got given on the cruise were wearing off so I had to be admitted into hospital here.
‘So I was there almost over night and basically I didn’t know this but you can’t have surgery if you have an infection.’
‘My surgery was meant to be a couple of days later after the cruise so it got postponed,’ she said.
Scare: In April, Samie told her followers how fans spotted a lump on her neck which doctors revealed to be ‘grade three’, meaning they cannot tell if it is cancerous or not
‘I’ve had such amazing messages as well saying how helpful it has been me sharing my journey. People have found lumps in their throat and went to get it checked out.
‘People have been sending me photos of the scarring which has healed because that’s what I was worried about but I’m not anymore, I just want it over and done with.’
Samie previously told her followers how fans spotted a lump on her neck which doctors revealed to be ‘grade three’, meaning they couldn’t tell if it was cancerous or not.
She said: ‘It’s a 5cm lump on my thyroid’ before revealing she was awaiting surgery where doctors will be able to take a biopsy.
She also admitted she had not posted a lengthy statement about her recent break up from boyfriend Tom Clare due to her ongoing health concerns.
She told the camera: ‘It is intense, Me and Tom have broken up. It’s ended on good terms. No one’s done anything bad to each other, there’s still lots and lots of love there’.
‘It just wasn’t working on the outside and we both agreed on the majority of the things.
‘There’s no bad blood there, me and Tom. I would never say a bad word about him and he wouldn’t about me.’
She added: ‘We just weren’t working on the outside. I feel like when you come out of the villa you’ve got so much pressure and so many other things to worry about that plays a huge factor in a relationship.
‘I thought me and Tom were going to live happily ever after but life happens.’
Hospital: Fellow Love Island star Demi, 24, announced in December 2021 she was cancer free, just seven months after being diagnosed with thyroid cancer (pictured in early 2021)
She added: ‘But it is still obviously really scary. I’m a young girl, I’m realising how common it is now. I even saw Demi Jones went through it.’
