The bill allowing the privatization of Correios was sent by the Bolsonaro government to Congress in February 2021, with the forecast for the sale of 100% of the assets of the state-owned company. The prediction was that the process would be approved by the first half of 2022. However, after the text was approved in the Chamber of Deputies in August 2021 with 286 votes in favor, 173 against and two abstentions, it was stopped in the Senate.
