Coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo exalted the Corinthians group, before the classic against São Paulo, for the semifinal of the Copa do Brasil. After the 0-0 draw with Bahia, the coach said that the team is ready for next Tuesday’s Majestoso, at Neo Química Arena.
“The players are prepared for this decision, they know it’s a different game, the band plays differently. I’m very happy with them,” said Luxemburgo, who took the opportunity to highlight how important Fiel Torcida will be in the tie.
“We are prepared to play a decisive game, it is important to point out that the first game is at our home, the fans will be fundamental, it is a new moment in this relationship with our fans. We count a lot on our fans for this game”, commented Luxa.
Corinthians has been publishing content over the past week, asking fans present in Itaquera not to chant homophobic chants, something common in derbies against São Paulo. Timão will have a match behind closed doors in the Brazilian Championship due to the chants sung in May’s Majestoso.
Corinthians and São Paulo face each other next Tuesday, at 9:30 pm (Brasília time). The return of the semifinal is scheduled for August 16, at Morumbi.
