Marcos Rojo brutally slams Harry Maguire over Man United ‘mistakes’

Marcos Rojo brutally beat ex-Manchester United team-mate Harry Maguire – and claims Ole Gunnar Solskjaer only played him because of his £80m asking price.

The Argentine defender, who lost his spot to Maguire in the 2019/20 season, revealed his X-rated tirade at Solskjaer when he asked why the Englishman started despite “making mistakes every week”.

Rojo, who spent six seasons at Old Trafford before joining Boca Juniors in 2021, told TYC Sports: “In 2019 I was very good in England. I played in the Europa League but I was very angry with the manager for putting Maguire in the team instead of me.

“Thank God they’ve got him and Licha down now [Lisandro] Martinez is playing.

“One day I went to Solskjaer’s office to tell him to let me go to another club or put me in the starting line-up. I said it was wrong that I didn’t play.

“But he told me Maguire still had to play because they paid so much money for him.

“He was already making big mistakes every week and I said to Solskjaer: ‘Son of Ab**** let me play because this guy makes big mistakes every week.’

Maguire was the world’s most expensive defender when United paid £80million to sign him from Leicester City in the summer of 2019.

That forced Rojo, who signed for the club under Louis van Gaal in 2014, to lower the pecking order at centre-back.

In the 2019-20 season, Solskjaer played against Rojo in Europa League group games but only started him once in the Premier League before the Argentine suffered an injury.

In January 2020, Solskjaer Rojo granted his wish and sent him home on loan to Estudiantes.

A year later, Rojo left United to sign permanently for Boca Juniors.

Back in September, the 33-year-old was handed an unusual ban by the Argentine FA, which banned him from captaining Boca for a month after kicking an opposing player in the head during the Superclasico with River Plate.

Martinez’s arrival last summer ousted Maguire from Erik ten Hag’s United team and his future at United is in doubt.

His last appearance was in United’s 3-0 horror show defeat by Sevilla last week, which eliminated them from the UEFA Europa League.

The United captain was ruled out in Thursday night’s 2-2 draw at Tottenham Hotspur in which they gambled away a two-goal advantage.
