Right-back Mayke left the Hernando Siles stadium with a limp, after Palmeiras lost 3-1 to Bolívar in the opening match of the liberators. The cause was an ankle injury, the result of a ball dispute during the game. The player will be reassessed upon arrival in Brazil, where the type and severity of the injury will be verified.

Thanks to the completely reserve lineup chosen by Abel Ferreira, Mayke started the match as a starter in his original position. In an attack from the right end, the player suffered a hard tackle from a Bolívar defender and twisted his ankle. After medical attention, he was replaced, around 17 of the second half.

If a more serious injury is found, Mayke joins Piquerez (sprained knee), Atuesta (ruptured anterior cruciate ligament of the knee) and Bruno Tabata (muscle injury) in Verdão’s medical department.

With or without Mayke, the palm trees returns to the field next Sunday (09) for the dispute of the second final of the Paulistan, at 4 pm (Brasília time) at Allianz Parque. To win the cup, Abel Ferreira’s team needs to beat Água Santa by at least two goals difference.
