Mega Millions pays prize of BRL 2.5 billion; next draw is tuesday

The US lottery Mega Millions paid out a prize of US$ 476 million, equivalent to R$ 2.5 billion, in the draw held early this Saturday, the 15th. Brazilians can also try their luck.

The numbers drawn in this contest were 23, 27, 41, 48, 51 and the Mega Ball 22 of gold. One person won the total estimated prize, and two other people matched the five numbers drawn and took, each, US$ 1 million, equivalent to R$ 4.9 million.

The next draw, in Brasilia time, will take place from Monday, 17, to Tuesday, 18, at midnight. The broadcast can be followed through YouTube.

Unlike Brazilian lotteries, in Mega Millions the winner has the option of choosing between two ways to receive the amount: all at once (but the amount is reasonably smaller) or in annual installments over 29 years. Most people prefer to receive less, but all at once.
