Meghan Markle received a £15,000 bracelet, first seen on the eve of her wedding, as a gift from King Charles to welcome her to the royal family. The gorgeous piece of jewelery was created for the Duchess by purveyors to the court Bentley & Skinner.
Made from ninety-two round brilliant diamonds totaling 2 carats set in white gold may have cost up to £15,000.
The touching gesture from Prince Charles, who would walk the future Duchess down the aisle in place of her own father, was a fitting way to welcome Meghan to the family given Bentley & Skinner’s royal connection.
Based in Burlington Arcade, Piccadilly, London, the jewelers are jewelers by royal appointment to King Charles, as was then to Her Majesty the Queen.
The company began supplying jewelry to the royal family during the reign of Queen Victoria. It has created aristocratic jewellery, including a diamond crown for his wife, Louisa Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire.
Meghan often wore the bracelet in her early days as working queen, and it was officially revealed to be a gift from Charles during Meghan and Harry’s first royal tour of Fiji.
Meghan previously wore the gift to Charles’ 70th birthday celebrations as a sweet tribute. It seems the Duchess of Sussex hasn’t worn the gift in almost a year.
According to style blog Meghan’s Mirror, the mother of two last wore the bracelet on April 17, 2022 during the Invictus Games in The Hague.
She wore the bracelet with a chic white blazer, jeans, designer sunglasses and heels. But since then, the Duchess has favored other jewelry.
These include a Cartier tank watch worth £20,000 in gold which was given to her by Prince Harry, who had bequeathed the piece to Princess Diana from his late mother. She paired the piece with her Cartier Love Bracelet, £6,600.
It’s not known why the Duchess put her bracelet in Charles’s jewelry box in the first place, but a lot has changed for the royal family since they last wore the bracelet.
When Meghan last wore the bracelet, she and her husband were filming for their anticipated Netflix documentary series, which wrapped filming in August 2022, just months before Harry and the Duchess attended the Platinum Jubilee National Service of Thanksgiving in June 2022. Unfortunately the Queen passed away in September 2022.
Harry & Meghan aired on Netflix in December and made headlines for weeks. In the documentary, Harry & Meghan accused the offices of other working royals of informing the press against them during their time as working royals.
