LEIPZIG. Saxon state parliamentarian Juliane Nagel was arrested on Thursday evening and taken away in handcuffs. The 44-year-old is said to have hit a police officer at the demonstration she organized.
Nagel, who has been a member of Parliament for nine years, actually registered the elevator as “Youth Day”. However, participants protested with posters for the left-wing extremist Lina E. On Wednesday, she was sentenced to five years and three months in prison for several violent crimes against political opponents. However, after the reasoning of the verdict, the judge released her and overrode the arrest warrant.

Video recordings published on Twitter show two officers taking the left-wing politician against her will and pushing her against a police car. According to the police, Nagel is accused of “interfering with an official act”. “She is said to have hit one of the officers with her hand,” said a spokesman. “The allegation of physical assault on an officer is now being examined.”
170 people from the radical left spectrum took part in the demo. Several were hooded and set off pyrotechnics. (fh)
