My Kitchen Rules: Pete Evans shows off his rat-tailed mullet as he emerges from hiding and makes his way to a local Harris Farm in Bondi Beach

He’s the disgraced former celebrity chef whose controversial opinions led to his split from Channel Seven in 2020 after ten years as a judge on My Kitchen Rules.

And on Tuesday, Pete Evans, 50, made a rare public appearance in Sydney as he emerged from hiding to shop for groceries on Bondi Beach.

The former presenter’s look was a world away from his lucid days as a reality TV star, sporting a rat-tailed mullet and a scruffy five o’clock shadow.

For the outing, he rocked a monochromatic look by wearing a stylish black tee, which he paired with matching jeans and brown sneakers.

Pete completed his outfit with a black baseball cap on his head and a backpack slung over his shoulders.

Carrying a paper bag full of groceries, he looked focused as he sped away in an Uber.

Evans has been keeping a low profile since he was dropped by 15 sponsors and corporations within 48 hours in November 2020 after posting a neo-Nazi meme on social media.

He has also faced a number of controversies in recent years.

The once-popular TV star has come under scrutiny over anti-vaccination proliferation and has been fined $25,000 for starting an alternator that he says helped cure Covid.

In May 2020, it was announced that Pete had parted ways with Channel Seven after ten years as a judge on My Kitchen Rules alongside Manu Feildel and guest judge Colin Fassnidge.

It effectively marked his departure from the mainstream after years of flirting with offbeat ideas during his tenure at the station.

Free from the contractual constraints of mainstream television, Evans began voicing his non-scientific beliefs about vaccines and the Covid-19 pandemic on social media.

In July 2020, Evans sparked outrage when he falsely claimed that Covid-19 was a “fucking hoax” and that the pandemic “didn’t compare to what’s happening on a large scale in the world.”

In May 2021, he was fined $80,000 for trying to cash in on Covid again by spreading more fake treatments online.

It was the second time he had run into trouble with authorities, having previously been fined $25,000 for attempting to sell his so-called BioCharger on Facebook for $15,000 each.
