NDTV appoints former SEBI chairman UK Sinha and business leader Dipali Goenka as independent directors

In line with Adani Group’s objective of ensuring NDTV’s independence and professionalism, UK Sinha and Dipali Goenka became independent directors based on the recommendations of the Nominating and Remuneration Committee effective 27 March 2023 for a two-year period Appointed by NDTV subject to shareholder and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting approvals. UK Sinha has also been appointed Non-Executive Chairperson of NDTV.

UK Sinha served as Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) between 2011 and 2017. Under his leadership, SEBI is credited with bringing about significant regulatory changes in areas such as takeover law, foreign portfolio investors and alternative investment funds. Prior to that he was Chairman and Managing Director of UTI Asset Management Company Pvt Ltd for six years. He was also Assistant Secretary at the Treasury Department, overseeing the Banking and Capital Markets departments. He has received many awards for his contribution as Chair of SEBI viz. CNBC-TV18 India Business Leader Awards (IBLA) – Outstanding Contribution to Indian Business Award, 2014 and Economic Times – Business Reformer of the Year Award, 2014 to name a few. Mr. Sinha entered the Indian Administrative Service in 1976. He has an M.Sc. and LLB degree.

Dipali Goenka is Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Welspun India Limited. She is an accomplished global business leader known for her dynamism, entrepreneurial spirit and passion for protecting the environment. She has a strong focus on women’s empowerment and has taken significant initiatives to promote inclusive growth. She has been recognized by Forbes as one of the most powerful women in Asia and India. She co-chaired the India Economic Summit 2017 organized by the World Economic Forum. She was a speaker on the Inspire series at the Harvard India conference. She has also been recognized as one of the most influential female business leaders by Businessworld and HTT, USA. She joined other world leaders at the recent historic first United Nations Biodiversity Summit to take urgent action on sustainable development. She was Chair of the Women’s Council of ASSOCHAM and is currently a member of the World Economic Forum’s Consumption Platform. She is a graduate psychologist and Harvard graduate.
