A new trailer for the upcoming anime film Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out was unveiled at the AnimeJapan 2023 event. The trailer previews the first of two sequel anime film projects based on Hajime Kamoshida’s Seishun Buta Yarō light novel series. The video also reveals that the film will open in Japan on June 23, 2023.

During the same event, the staff unveiled the lead image for the film Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out. The picture shows Sakuta Azusagawa, the main character, and his younger sister, Kaede Azusagawa.
Sequel Anime Project is adapting two light novel volumes
The sequel anime project adapts the eighth and ninth volumes in the Seishun Buta Yarō light novel series: Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out and Rascal Does Not Dream of a Rucksack Kid. The project is led by Sōichi Masui at CloverWorks. Masahiro Yokotani is in charge of composition and scripts, while Satomi Tamura returns as character designer.

Seishun Buta Yarō wa Bunny Girl-senpai no Yume wo Minai (Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai), the TV anime adaptation of the light novel series, premiered in Japan in October 2018 and aired 13 episodes. Aniplex of America streamed the series on Crunchyroll, Funimation, and other services.

Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl (Seishun Buta Yarō wa Yume-Miru Shōjo no Yume wo Minai), the anime film adapting the sixth and seventh volumes of the light novel series, was released in Japan in June 2019. Aniplex of America and Funimation Films screened the film in the United States.
Yen Press publishes the original light novel series in English.
