Before wearing the colors of Verdão and becoming one of the great idols in the history of Palmeiras, Evair passed through Italian football and was just as emblematic. For three seasons, the former striker spent at Atalanta and stood out by defending the team’s colors from 1988 to 1991.
This Sunday, before the match against Juventus for the 34th round of the Italian Championship, Atalanta honored Evair with a plaque with his name and the number 9, which he used at the club. The crowd present at Gewiss Stadium cheered the former Brazilian player before kick-off.

Atalanta was the first international club of Evair’s career. Hired in 1988, the striker came from Guarani, the club that revealed him, and when he left Europe, the Brazilian returned to his homeland and went on to make history at Palmeiras from 1991 onwards.
For the Italian club, Evair played 89 games and scored 30 goals, with 76 games and 25 goals only in the Italian Serie A. With the Brazilian, Atalanta reached sixth position in Serie A, the second best performance in the team’s history. In addition, the team even played in the UEFA Cup twice with Evair on the team.
