According to a campaign promise, Poland’s army is to become the strongest in Europe within the next two years. Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak announced this on Sunday at an election rally in the city of Wolomin, around 20 kilometers northeast of Warsaw, as reported by the PAP news agency. The condition is that the national-conservative government is confirmed in the parliamentary elections in autumn, said the minister, who is also the deputy head of government.

PAP quoted Blaszczak as promising: “If the voters, if the people give us another term, then in two years we can meet again here in Wolomin and then I can show you that the Polish army will be the strongest land army in Europe.” .”

The government in Warsaw, led by the national-conservative Law and Justice Party (PiS), is among Ukraine’s most determined political and military supporters. Not only does it deliver tanks, combat aircraft and large quantities of other armaments to the neighboring country attacked by Russia, but it also heavily equips its own army.
